The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Virginia Tech
(Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University) invites
applications for an Assistant Professor of Mandarin Chinese for a
tenure-track position to begin August 2009 pending budgetary approval.
Teaching load 2-2.

Required: PhD requirements in Chinese language and literature
completed by August 10, 2009. Virginia Tech is a Research I
institution; therefore, the successful candidate must show evidence of
or potential for excellence in research/scholarship. Demonstrated
excellence in teaching. The candidate must have the ability to teach
courses in literature, culture, and language at the undergraduate
level. Native or near-native fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English.


Preferred: Interest in study abroad. Experience teaching in US universities.


The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the US at the time of appointment.
